Now.the reason I made this in the first place is (que long story) I grew up in Iraq, that’s where I’m from originally, and I grew up listening to a singer called Kathem Al-Saher, he’s kind of a big deal in the middle east, though I wouldn’t blame you if you haven’t heard of him, anyways, point is.his music was simply beautiful, later down the line I discovered that most of his songs were taken from poems by a poet called Nizar Qabbani, who was also kind of a big deal in the Arabic poetry circuit, so I started reading his poetry, and I don’t even like poetry, but it was beyond brilliant, it triggered all kind of emotions within me (this happened in parallel with many love stories that I went through myself, so the poems were like a constant comrade to me, cheering me on). Hello all, my name is Faisal, and this happens to be my first (official) blog, I hope that this post will be the first of many to come. He who tries to untangle her braids, my son. He who asks for her hand, who approaches.

His work was featured not only in his two dozen volumes of poetry and in regular contributions to the Arabic-language newspaper Al Hayat, but in lyrics sung by Lebanese and Syrian vocalists who helped popularize his work. Like a sentence spoken and not understood Nizar Qabbani Follow Qabbani was revered by generations of Arabs for his sensual and romantic verse. How the night inflates the sorrows of strangers. Nizar qabbani song tv#
Sometimes the TV was unwatchable if there was a lengthy News session or an interview with a long-winded politician! There was only one TV channel and it was government controlled. The alternative for school boys and teenagers at the time was football games on dusty grounds or black-and-white TV. It was the prime source of entertainment. Being a small neighbourhood with an even smaller number of cinema goers the films were changed once or even twice a week. We were in suburbia there was only one Summer Cinema as the Cinema had no roof. My parents moved from my grandfather’s big house in Central Baghdad to our own home some 20 miles away. Instead, my favourite films are Tarzan, Lassie the female collie dog and Fury the brave stallion or comedy films of Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977), Ismael Yassin (1912-1972) and Norman Wisdom (1915-2010). Najat’s film “Stranger” was released, but I did not see it and I did not know who she was. I was still a school boy just moving from Elementary school to Intermediate school.
