Setting up Microsoft Defender Antivirus on Windows Server However, you can set Microsoft Defender Antivirus to passive or disabled mode manually. On Windows Server, if you are running a non-Microsoft antivirus/antimalware solution, Microsoft Defender Antivirus does not go into either passive mode or disabled mode automatically. On Windows Server, automatic exclusions are applied based on your defined Server Role.

Although the functionality, configuration, and management are largely the same for Microsoft Defender Antivirus on Windows 10 and Windows 11, there are a few key differences on Windows Server: In some instances, Microsoft Defender Antivirus is referred to as Endpoint Protection however, the protection engine is the same. Windows Server 2012 R2 (Requires Microsoft Defender for Endpoint). The enhanced features of SP+ considerations included tutorial videos (yeah), and a feature discovered this week - benefitting my 18 year old son (who has decided to learn SoftPlan - follow me in the business), and a younger builder we recently added to our planning clients.Microsoft Defender Antivirus is available in the following editions/versions of Windows Server: Is $80.00 a month affordable, and easy to budget? Most of us know that it can only take a few minutes of SP+ use per month to net $100.00 and more. Our considerations included the production of $45.00 per month using SP+ and the pending activation of our 2nd key to SP+ (add $35.00 per month). These are well beyond cost per month vs periodic upgrade cost. There are several "kickers" we considered in switching to SP+ that continue to prove the value.

Do a quick calculation based on an upgrade every two years! Assuming you keep reasonably current with the software.Īs far as we were concerned, the monthly payments as opposed to lump sums, were the deciding factor and Softplan plus was a bonus.I personally consider that 2016 + was a worthwhile upgrade." "We DO (KA - don't) use Softplan's Cloud functions, and (KA - but) the per month payments, never having to pay for an upgrade again were a no brainer for us. I am - have been in parallel course with Keith Almond regarding subscribing to SP+ and did, with some exception to KA's info: I must admit: to me SP is like a 12 story building, and due to our primary source of income, being the actual builds, and a very busy schedule, I have used SP for facilitation of adequate construction docs for our Contracts to Build, such that I have only known what I can do with SP up to the 7th or 8th floor of the building (2 years ago it was 5th - 6th floor - but still adequate) We are a design-build residential and light commercial contractor, using SP since 1997. I must say that, over the years, SP has worked for me to be competitive locally & it's been fun to use, so re the program, it is just great! It's just their accounting Dept. But this is just my story & you should listen to the others who are constantly using it & consider their opinions first. So, if you ask if it's worth it to upgrade to the + version, i guess you will know what my answer will be.

Now, i rarely use support as i have been there & done that with SP over the years that i can usually find a workaround, but that somehow just didn't sit right!

when i started SP up ( i still do the odd plan), saying SP will no longer be supporting V2012 starting in January. Then, the icing on the cake was a message in Nov. I could keep using 2012 & be thankful for that! She was very rude to me & i was not impressed! I guess, technically she was right, but there was definitely no compassion coming from SP after being a continuous customer for 24 years. It's what sold me on getting the subscription in the first place, and was told no way! She stopped short of calling me a liar. I was told, by sales at the time that if i bought the subscription for 2014+ & wanted to revert back to the standalone 2014, then my monthly payments would be applied to the final billing. I was on SP2016+ when i called sales last year in the spring, explaining that because i have had bone marrow cancer for the last 18 years & that lately it was getting worse & as a result i just wasn't getting the work to justify having the latest/greatest program out there, would it be possible to cancel my monthly subscription to 2016+ & revert back to V2014 (which i had subscribed to for enough months to fully pay for the standalone program). Well, i may definitely sound prejudice on this topic! I have upgraded to every version since V9 & before that to every second Version since V3 (in 1991).
